Herberth Motorsport produced a stunning display with the Porsche 991 GT3 R to win the final round of the 24H Series powered by Hankook in Austin/USA. The German team is the first to receive the title ‘Champion of the Continents’, awarded to the team to amass the greatest number of points at the Hankook 24H COTA USA and the races in Dubai and Portugal. The 41 teams and 174 drivers made the race at the 5.49-kilometre Circuit of the Americas a magnificent finale to the season. All the drivers were able to rely on the tyres provided by premium tyre maker Hankook.
Austin/USA, 14th November 2017 – Herberth Motorsport and drivers Ralf Bohn (D), Daniel Allemann (CH), Robert and Alfred Renauer (D) won the Hankook 24H COTA USA. In doing so, they became the first team to earn the title “Champion of the Continents”. After 24 hours and 608 laps of racing, a delighted Robert Renauer was first across the finish line in Austin, at the wheel of the team’s Porsche 991 GT3 R. Second place, two laps behind the winners, went to the Black Falcon team with its Mercedes-AMG GT3. The Manthey Racing team’s Porsche 991 GT3 R came home third. The race at the Circuit of the Americas formed the final round of the 24H Series powered by Hankook.
The first third of the race saw the lead change hands several times between pole sitters Black Falcon and the Manthey Racing and Herberth Motorsport teams, who started the race from second and third. Nine hours into the race, the Herberth Motorsport Porsche 991 GT3 R made the decisive move to the front of the field and successfully defended its lead through to the finish. The tyres provided by partner Hankook played a key role in the success. The Hankook race tyres – Ventus F200 for dry and Ventus Z207 for wet - slick performed perfectly, offering all the drivers a consistently high level of grip with every set of tyres throughout the entire race.
The new season of the 24H Series powered by Hankook gets underway in January 2018. The teams go in search of success again from 5th to 7th January at the 3x3H, and from 11th to 13th January at the Hankook 24H Dubai.

Manfred Sandbichler, Hankook Motorsport Director Europe: “That was a more than successful premiere for the Hankook 24H COTA USA. The fans witnessed motorsport at its best, with many exciting battles out on the track. We are particularly pleased with the amount of positive feedback the teams have given us regarding the Hankook tyres. Our standard, high-performance compound provided all the drivers with a high level of grip. Preparations start now for our next highlight, the Hankook 24H Dubai in January.”
Robert Renauer (Porsche 991 GT3 R), Herberth Motorsport: Respect to the Hankook tyre, which has supported us perfectly all season. The tyre was once again very consistent and reliable in this race – from start to finish. It would normally be easy to drive double stints, but the circuit here is so tiring for the drivers, that we still came in for a tyre change anyway. They have simply been perfect for us, both today and throughout the entire season.
