Hankook Tire gains a series of national recognitions for its excellence in quality from the Korean government

• Daejeon and Geumsan plants selected as ‘Enterprises with quality excellence’ for eleven consecutive years by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy in Korea
• Demonstrates industry-leading competence by winning another recognition from the Korean government following the certification issued by the Ministry of Science and Technology last month

Seoul, Korea, December 4, 2020 – Global leading tire company Hankook Tire was once again recognized for its excellence in quality by the Korean government by winning the title of ‘Enterprise with quality excellence’.

Hankook Tire’s Daejeon plant and Geumsan plant, both located in Korea, were selected as the ‘Enterprises with quality excellence’ at the 46th National Quality Management Convention which is organized by the Korean Standards Association and hosted by the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE). The National Quality Management Convention is an annual event held in Korea, designed to award persons and bodies that have contributed to invigorating economy and industry with outstanding performance through quality management initiatives.

Both of the two plants have won this title for eleven consecutive years since 2010 in recognition of continuous R&D investment and efforts to satisfy customers. This made Hankook the first tire company in Korea to be credited as an honorary member. Only those that have won this title more than ten times can apply to become an honorary member, which is announced after rigorous evaluation.

Prior to this, Hankook had acquired a Certification of Exemplary Laboratories in Safety Management issued by the Ministry of Science and ICT for Flat-trac CT+ Laboratory and Chemical Analysis Laboratory, which are located in Hankook Technodome. Hankook Technodome is Hankook’s state-of-the-art R&D center which opened in 2016. The certification is known to be granted only after a stringent examination on laboratories’ safety system, related activities, and safety officials’ awareness. It was the first time that a Korean tire company gained this certification.
